What does Get Rocking involve?
Once we have
received your application form and cheque (payable to
Get Rocking) you will be invited to an open evening at
Andertons in Guildford where you will join the other applicants
and form your new band. You will then have 4 rehearsals
at Silent Hill Studios (these will be on Sundays) where
you will practice your chosen songs, and a final gig for
family and friends at a venue in Guildford. During your
rehearsal sessions you will be supported by experienced
mentors who will offer practical advice and ensure that
everything runs smoothly. They will help you prepare for
the final gig.
.....
What does it cost?
Get Rocking
costs £199 per person. This includes enrolment at
Andertons Music and a discount card to use in the store
throughout your involvement, 4 rehearsal sessions at a
local rehearsal studio and a gig played to family and
friends at a venue in Guildford. All musical equipment
will be supplied by Andertons Music. Your band can then
join our gig circuit where you will have the opportunity
to play in pubs and clubs and at festivals. Get Rocking
programmes start every 2 months in Guildford.
We will be able to incorporate online payments into our
website very soon, in the meantime we accept payment by
cheque or bank transfer.

Am I good enough?
Please be
reassured that almost everyone who contacts us asks this
question - in 3 years of running the courses we have had
no-one who has felt unable to complete the course and
play the Boileroom gig!
Guitarists
If you know your 1st position chords plus some bar chords
and feel you can hold together a basic rhythm part then
you will be fine. For those of you who spend 99% of the
time improvising or copying solos it would be a good idea
to brush up on your basic rhythm skills as your fellow
band members will really appreciate this.
Drummers should be able to play a simple
rock rhythm
Singers
All are welcome here, standards vary and you can be supported
in rehearsals and on stage by our 2 professional singers.
Bassists As long as you are breathing
you will be fine! Guitarists can be given a few conversion
lessons if necessary - some people who joined GR as guitarists
are now very much in demand as bassists.
We also welcome
Keyboard players and other instruments.
